Day 2 - Well No. 1

What a Team!
Okay, the pictures get funny today.  Wellspring of Life has the site prepped for us but unfortunately after 7.5 feet there is a cavernous void that sucks all of our "drill mud" out of our site pits.  So for you amatuers, that means no well mud, no drilling, no deeper, no water - day over.  Not so, you take it apart and put it somewhere else.  Who digs the pits - you do!  Who mixes the mud - you do!

Today's first round was Doug as Lead Driller, Jimmy as Drill Assistant (mechanic), Alisha as Tool Pusher ("Tool Girl" or "Flash" - ask us later), Susan as Cuttings and Flow Analyst (she checks the mess to tell us when we hit water), and Jerry Jones as "Mud Pit Boss" (he makes the mud with the Benzonite for viscosity, unplugs the feeder hose and shovels the cuttings out of pit #2.)  Second round, everyone moved clockwise and then it all happened.  The great "water escape" and the benzonite hit the fan!  Doug had Jerry's old job as everyone crosstrained but Jerry's job wasn't the same.  Doug was covered in slimy gooey well mud and later Jerry had to rescue him.  Jimmy tried and tried with the others to finish the well but alas we simply sealed it for tomorrow (too much to explain) for drilling.  Then off to dig more pits for the Well No. 2 tomorrow.

It is 4:39 CST and we are tired, wet, muddy and sore.  By the way, well made well mud is like slippery slime from Nickelodeon but with the color and smell of a newborn's runny diaper.  So, who wants to go well drilling?  You do!  It is incredibly fun, easy technically, the art is a bit harder, very tiring, but also very rewarding to know a new trade that will share Jesus with others.

After one year of waiting with God (he told me a year ago to do this) I am in the perfect place today.  So is the rest of the team!  Don't worry about us - we are awesome.  Everyone says, "Hi!"  It pays to get in shape so Pilates Up and get ready for missions.  Look back in the morning.

Take a look at the pictures.  Select pictures to the right and then Well Drilling.
