Holes

If you store up grievances
And nurse old animosities inside yourself,
And then try to pray,
You will be like someone going to the well for water
With a bucket that is full of holes

Evagrios of Pontus

The message is clear in regard to God. No matter what He gives to a person full of holes, it is lost immediately.

Followers and other leaders need people who are “not in progress” but who actually are people of character and insight. Certainly, like Paul once called Saul, we will “never have reached the goal” but we should be able to be an example of what we want those around us to be.

Prayer is but a conversation with God. If we try to go to those around us to have conversation, to learn, and to lead but hold grievances and anger – there will be no benefit, for the relationship is full of holes.
