Shallow by Words

When you go out after prayer,
Keep your tongue under restraint,
For it is well capable of dissipating,
In a very short time,
What you labored to gather together.

John Klimakos

The more time leaders spend learning, thinking and growing – the deeper they become. How incredible! There is much that came before and teaches great lessons to the aspiring leader. The leader grows exponentially when he does not do it “on his own.”

Spiritual leadership recognizes this “greater” as God and the many words, truths and precepts on leadership that God has recorded in the Bible. Spiritual leadership prays more than it leads.

The pond gets deeper when we pray. Too much talk and too much bragging, teaching and lifting up of knowledge plows a hole in the dike and drains the pond.

The pond gets deeper when leaders spend time learning and becoming great leaders. Too much talk about what we have learned, what we do, what we heard and what we experienced plows a hole in the dike.
