Consistency Through Silence

Begin by closing your mouth.
Sayings of the Egyptian Fathers
We, as spiritual leaders, do need a constant pilgrimage. As on the planning or prayer retreat, when secular influences cease and dedication to God’s voice reigns, so could each day be profitable if we would live it on pilgrimage. The Church is seriously lacking men and women who lead with consistency while on a pilgrimage instead of leading reactively after epiphany from intermittent pilgrimages.
Oh, if we could all learn to talk less. Pride would be eliminated. Foolish and malicious words would cease. Unfortunate and unmeant words would not divide our organizations. In the good cases, we would be even smarter and better as teams as we allowed other words and ideas to sink in and mature ours. We would hear the hearts of our people and, more importantly, each minute’s direction from God.
