Humble Force - The Big 8

“The leader of the film is never the objective of the viewer but most certainly delivers the film by going first (humble force).”

In the Spirit of 1 Corinthians 13 (theologians pardon my subsitutions):

If I had the gift of being able to speak in other languages without learning them and could speak in every language there is in all of heaven and earth, but was not humble - I would only be making noise.

If I had the gift of prophecy and knew all about what is going to happen in the future, knew everything about everything, but was not humble - what good would it do?

Even if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, I would still be worth nothing at all without humility.

If I gave everything I have to poor people, and if I were burned alive for preaching the Gospel but didn't have humility, it would be of no value whatever.

Humility is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude.

Humility does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong.

Humility is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out.

If you are a humble leader, you will be loyal to your followers no matter what the cost. You will always believe in them, always expect the best of them, and always stand your ground in defending them.

All the special gifts and powers from God will someday come to an end, but humility goes on forever. Someday prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge-these gifts will disappear. Now we know so little, even with our special gifts, and the preaching of those most gifted is still so poor. But when we have been made perfect and complete, then the need for these inadequate special gifts will come to an end, and they will disappear.

It's like this: when I was an emerging leader I spoke and thought and reasoned as an emerging leader does. But when I became a leader my thoughts grew far beyond those of my pride, and now I have put away prideful things.

In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face to face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.

When we see what He sees, we will see that He is the only reason we can lead others to be great, and if we are worth anything as a leader we will long to see the followers succeed. We will long to simply “lead them to the place” where the world “will desire to watch them” because of their success and arrival.

Foolish is the parent who becomes so wrapped up in a child’s success that he or she thinks it is their success. Foolish is the parent that steals a child’s glory as he makes it across the finish line. Foolish is the parent who is more interested in being acclaimed for their leadership than for the child to finish no matter how well.

Likewise, true leaders do not seek their own success, but success is found when the followers arrive at and accomplish the goal. True leaders do not bow but clap for others because they are leaders, and their only success is found in others reaching the desired goal. Followers who arrive alive are the crown and seeing them in lights is awesome.
